Echo Lake Church Of Christ

What We Believe

Our foundation is the Word of God.
Echo Lake Church of Christ is a dynamic congregation that adheres to the pattern of New Testament Christianity. We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible and preach the unadulterated Gospel of Christ. We seek to honor God, follow Jesus Christ, live by the Holy Spirit and work diligently to save lost souls.

WE BELIEVE THAT THE BIBLE IS GOD'S INFALLIBLE, INSPIRED WORD!

It is accurate, authoritative, and applicable to our everyday lives. It is both timely and timeless! It is sufficient for salvation and we can trust in His promises because His word does not change (Hebrews 13:8). We believe through study we can come to know God and His plan for our lives.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” — 2 Timothy 3:16-17

“I the Lord do not change…” — Malachi 3:6a

WE BELIEVE THAT God sent his only Son to die on the cross...

to save us from our sins and that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” — John 3:16-17

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day” — 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

WE BELIEVE THAT WE SHARE IN JESUS' DEATH, BURIAL AND RESRRECTION .

by being buried with Jesus through baptism by immersion for the forgiveness of our sins, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Baptism is essential for salvation, as Jesus told us that those who have not been born again by water and spirit cannot enter the Kingdom of God.
John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”
Romans 6:4
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Acts 2:37-39
When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins…”.
1 Peter 3:20-22
“…this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ…”

WE BELIEVE THAT our worship together...

centered around Bible study, the preached word, prayer, communion, and singing, serves as encouragement to one another and as praise our Creator.

“not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” — Hebrews 10:25

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” — Colossians 3:16

“…speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord…” — Ephesians 5:19

WE BELIEVE THAT we share in the Gospel of Jesus as a community...

by participating in the body and blood of Christ as we take the bread and cup together at the Lord’s Table during communion every Sunday.

“And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” — Luke 22:12-20

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” — Acts 2:42
